FT: Are you married?
Greg: Yes,
happily to Dawn Rice.
FT: Where did you grow up?
Greg: I was born
in Philadelphia and grew up in Deptford New Jersey
FT: Where did you go to school?
Greg: Deptford High School
FT: What made you move to Florida?
Greg: Dawn and I
decided to move to a warmer climate, so we made a five year plan and moved to Florida.
FT: What made you move to the Clearwater Area?
Greg: We looked
around the state and we decided we liked the west coast and Clearwater the best.
FT: How long have you been riding?
Greg: My Father
and neighbors had bikes so I was always around them and riding from about seven
years old.
FT: What were some of your first bikes?
Greg: I started
with a basket case mini bike. 4 horse
Briggs & Straton; I reebuilt
that and rode it for a few years. Then I
got a chopper mini bike I bought doing odd jobs for my neighbors. I sold that and went halves on a KE100 1976 Kawasaki with my
Dad. My first street bike was a 1979 CB550 Honda
then a 1100. In
1986 I bought my first Harley a 1976 Bicentennial Edition Super Glide. In 1991 I bought a brand new Springer Softail,
I rode that bike home from the dealership a hour away from Burlington County
H-D with the temperature at only six degrees.
FT: When did you start customizing bikes?
Greg: I started
with ny fathers basket case
bike. From there we rebuilt a mini bike
for me. We were so excited to build a
bike together, it just doesn't get any better. He hadn't ridden in 11 years, sold his two Panheads, got married, bought a house and started our
family.
FT: When did you start building bikes to sell?
Greg: In 1993
just after making the five year plan to move to FL. I opened a shop in Barnsborough NJ, We
built a Pro Street FXR Softail. Then we opened a shop in Westville NJ
among others we built two identical orange Pro Street Springers for business partners. After hours I built my first really radical
bike with a 275/15 car tire.
FT: Where did you first start in Florida?
Greg: I opened a
small shop on Sherwood Street
and later moved to Court Street in Clearwater.
FT: What is the main focus of your shop?
Greg: Providing a
full service custom cycle shop. A one stop ahop,
where you can get your bike serviced, repaireds and
customized we do warranty work an aftermarket custom bikes. Custom paint, frame
modification, custom parts. We
service most metric
cruisers and sport bikes also.
FT: Who would be in your personal Hell?
Greg: Vendors
that lie about delivery dates and time with my customer's parts. Most chrome shops that tell you two weeks and
take 6 weeks to get the job done.
FT: Who will be in your personal Heaven?
Greg: My wife
FT: Who would be in your personal hall of fame?
Greg: My parents,
my wife and the guys that work with me.
In and out of the shop they work hard and put up with me.
FT: Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
Greg: My Father,
he's the one that got me into all of this.
Sometimes I think it would have been easier if he had been into canoeing
instead of motorcycles.
FT: Besides meeting and marrying Dawn what was the best
moment of your life?
Greg: That has to
be the first time I was ridden on a motorcycle.
FT: What do you do in your spare time?
Greg: Riding of
course but if I'm not riding one of my fast motorcycles, I like to drive my
boat out in the Gulf of Mexico. It's a nice change of pace.
